Spring in January

In 2007, it was rumored that the Polo Club (west of Austin, east of Dripping Springs) would be torn down and turned into a strip mall. According to our barn managers, the landlords couldn’t make it happen fast enough. But 2008′s strangle hold on the economy seems to have changed those plans.

I visited in early 2009 and there were few horses (less than 10) and no demolition crews (unless you count neglect). Today, most of the pastures have an occupant—I saw over 30 horses across the property. The arena had riders riding and the barns had groomers grooming. Not bad for 9:30 on a Monday morning.
